Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) is a leading Indian conglomerate with significant operations in the steel, mining, and infrastructure sectors. Renowned for producing high-quality, cost-effective steel through extensive backward and forward integration, JSP is pursuing ambitious expansion plans. It is recognized globally as one of the most efficient and innovative steel manufacturers, committed to enhancing lives while upholding its core values.
The Angul plant includes a 1.2 MTPA plate mill capable of producing India’s widest 5-meter plates, a 1.4 MTPA bar mill, and an 810 MW captive power plant. The facility develops special-grade plates for critical applications such as petroleum pipes, shipbuilding, automotive, etc. JSP’s operations in Odisha, marked by the establishment of this modern steel plant, exemplify the company’s dedication to innovation, growth, and global leadership in the steel industry.
The ladle refining furnace (LRF) is crucial in steelmaking, refining molten steel from primary smelting furnaces. Its main functions include heating, alloy addition, composition adjustment, and slag incorporation for desulfurization and deoxidation. This project aims to optimize ferroalloy utilization in LRF operations by enhancing precision in alloy additions, reducing reliance on operator discretion, and addressing equipment reliability issues. By integrating data analytics and machine learning, we aim to develop predictive models to optimize ferroalloy quantities and combinations based on real-time steel chemistry. This will streamline operations, reduce costs, and ensure high-quality steel production.
A cost-effective ladle refractory furnace maintains molten steel temperature and protects the ladle shell while minimizing maintenance and material costs.
A cost-effective ladle refractory furnace, enhanced with lime addition, maintains molten steel temperature, improves impurity removal, and protects the ladle shell while minimizing maintenance and material costs
Proper slag composition enhances alloy recovery rates, reducing waste and cost, and plays a vital role in chemical refining by absorbing impurities to refine the melt composition. This leads to better quality and cost-effective ferroalloy production.
A material handler efficiently manages the movement and storage of materials, ensuring smooth operations and minimizing delays in production.
A bunker feeder efficiently supplies bulk materials from storage bunkers to processing equipment, ensuring a continuous and controlled flow of resources.
Ferroalloy optimization model enhances the control and precision of the alloying process, leading to improved product quality, reduced costs, and increased operational efficiency. It minimizes waste and reduces costs by accurately calculating the necessary additions, avoiding excess use of expensive alloys.
A ladle refractory furnace is essential in steelmaking for holding and transporting molten steel between refining and casting stages. Its refractory lining provides thermal insulation and protects the ladle shell from extreme heat and corrosion. During refining, processes like deoxidation and alloy addition occur, with gases injected to stir the molten steel for uniformity. Regular maintenance of the refractory lining is crucial to ensure efficiency and prevent failures, making it vital for quality steel production.
